Geely Riddara, the electric pickup brand under Chinese automaker Geely, has started shipping its RD6 PHEV hybrid pickup series abroad, starting in the Middle East.
The RD6 PHEV is equipped with the Geely EM-P Hybrid System. It is built on Geely Riddara’s Multiplex Attached Platform, which is a pickup-exclusive platform compatible with electric and hybrid powertrains.
The platform’s 3DHT hybrid architecture pairs a 1.5 T hybrid engine and 3-speed adjustment, which delivers acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds and enables a range of over 1,000 km. It delivers smooth handling in a variety of extreme driving conditions, while generating a maximum power output of 260 kW and peak torque of 914 N-m. The vehicle has undergone testing in conditions from -30° C to 60° C and 40 million km of endurance trials.
The RD6 PHEV is equipped with an energy management system that reduces fuel consumption by 21% compared to internal combustion engine (ICE) pickups, according to the company. The hybrid engine achieves a thermal efficiency of 44.26%. This is particularly well-suited to regions like the Middle East and South America, where charging infrastructure is limited, the company said.
Geely Riddara has expanded its presence to over 60 countries and regions, and plans to gradually expand its footprint in the EV market.
Geely Riddara has launched the hybrid pickup series in the Middle East as the first stop, and plans to roll out the new series in the Asia-Pacific, Latin American, and European markets later this year.
