IONNA, a joint venture charging network founded by eight of the world’s biggest automakers, has set a goal of deploying some 30,000 ultra-fast public charging points by 2030. Now the JV has announced a collaboration with convenience store chain Wawa.
The “first of many” Rechargeries at Wawa is now open near the International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. IONNA charging stations are also under construction at Wawa locations in Bradenton, Pensacola and Orlando.
Alongside IONNA’s signature blue and orange 400 kW Genuine Charge Dispensers, drivers will find car care amenities, canopy coverage and access to Wawa’s freshly prepared meals and other products.
“We couldn’t think of a better way to achieve a key milestone than reaching it with Wawa, a host that allows our drivers to charge with ease and in comfort, knowing they’re being well cared for. Next week’s opening of the IONNA Rechargery at Wawa in Daytona Beach will bring our total bay count to 212 live and 3,064 contracted,” said Seth Cutler, CEO of IONNA.
“Wawa has an ongoing commitment to providing our customers with speed and convenience, and our new collaboration with IONNA does just that,” said Rich Makin, Chief Fuel Officer. “As we continue to expand our EV services, we are thrilled to provide our customers with a one-stop for fresh food, beverages and EV charging.”
