Delhi Government Extends EV Policy Until March 31, 2026 for Public Consultations on New Draft

The Delhi government has officially extended its existing Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy until March 31, 2026, as announced by Transport Minister Pankaj Singh after the latest Cabinet meeting. This move aims to provide sufficient time for comprehensive public consultations on a new policy framework that will shape the future of electric mobility in the capital.

Launched initially in 2020 under the AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) administration, the original EV policy had expired in August 2023 and has since seen multiple extensions. During this extended period, the government will focus on critical components of the upcoming policy such as:

The new draft policy is expected to be more holistic, future-ready, and tailored to Delhi’s unique environmental and mobility challenges. By inviting widespread participation, the government hopes to craft a framework that accelerates EV adoption, strengthens infrastructure, and aligns with the city’s climate goals.

This proactive step underscores Delhi’s commitment to becoming a national leader in electric mobility, while also ensuring the policy reflects evolving needs, technological advancements, and global sustainability standards.
