US-based Edge Energy, which is developing energy conversion technology for EV fast charging, has received a strategic investment from PRETTL Mechatronics & Actuators. The $3.5-million financing round includes a direct equity investment as well as working capital.

Edge Energy’s EdgeEV Power Source is designed to enable ultra-fast EV charging that can be deployed up to six times faster than traditional systems without costly three-phase power upgrades, according to the company.

The technology enables businesses, municipalities and fleet operators to install DC fast chargers in locations ranging from rural areas to urban centers, addressing range anxiety and supporting EV adoption.

Germany-based PMA specializes in intelligent mechatronics, providing advanced capabilities in coil winding, encapsulation and automated assembly through its US-based subsidiaries. The partnership will accelerate Edge Energy’s growth and goal of expanding access to high-performance EV charging, by leveraging PMA’s manufacturing and electronics expertise.

“PMA’s electronic and manufacturing expertise aligns perfectly with our vision for accessible EV charging,” said Shaun Shuler, CEO of Edge Energy.
