Inductive components supplier Sumida has launched the CIUH10D46 and CIUH10D47 pulse transformers, the first of a new series of automotive-grade, low-profile surface-mount transformers designed specifically for battery management systems (BMS) in EVs, industrial battery storage and portable power applications.
The CIUH10D Series provides galvanic isolation and EMI suppression, which are required for the integrity of serial communication lines within daisy-chained BMS architectures.
Key features include a low-profile 5 mm SMD package for compact, high-density BMS designs; wide operating temperature of -40° C to 125° C; a high isolation rating of 3,800 V DC (60 seconds), meeting the needs of high-voltage environments; as well as strong coplanarity (≦0.1 mm) and robust metal terminal construction for high mechanical reliability. The CIUH10D47 features dual primary and secondary windings for multiple topology options.
The transformers are AEC-Q200 qualified for automotive reliability and performance.
The CIUH10D46 is validated for use with Analog Devices’ isoSPI transceivers (ADBM56821 and ADBM56822), making it suitable for developers using Analog’s BMS evaluation platforms. It is also compatible with other isoSPI transceiver chips.
The CIUH10D series offers strong electrical performance, with working voltages up to 1,000 V for the CIUH10D47 model and 600 V for the CIUH10D46. Designed to minimize noise coupling, the series features low interwinding capacitance values as low as 1.46 pF. Efficiency is further enhanced by a low DCR of just 0.38 Ω, while inductance ranges from 45 μH to 593 μH across different variants. Both models are fully RoHS-compliant.
“The CIUH10D Series delivers both the electrical performance and mechanical robustness BMS engineers require,” said Carl G. LeJambre III, Sumida’s Vice President of Sales. “These components support next-gen EV platforms and are equally suited for marine, aviation, and industrial power systems.”
