Zingbus Launches Plus Electric Premium Intercity Bus Service on Delhi–Dehradun Route

In a landmark move towards sustainable intercity travel, Zingbus has launched its Plus Electric premium intercity bus service, starting with the busy Delhi–Dehradun corridor. Positioned as a comfortable, eco-friendly, and affordable option for long-distance commuters, the new service underscores Zingbus’s commitment to building a greener future for India’s road transport sector.

Affordable, Green, and Comfortable Travel

The Plus Electric service aims to combine sustainability with affordability, with fares beginning at just ₹299. Passengers can expect the same hallmark comforts of Zingbus, including premium seating, safety features, and a smooth ride—while significantly lowering their carbon footprint compared to conventional diesel buses.

The launch of this service comes at a time when India’s transportation sector is undergoing a major shift, with a growing emphasis on electrification to reduce pollution, operational costs, and dependency on fossil fuels.

Ambitious Expansion Plans

Zingbus has laid out bold expansion goals—planning to scale up to 3,000 electric buses by 2030. This aggressive push is not just about fleet size but also about creating a reliable electric mobility ecosystem that can handle intercity travel demands at scale.

The company’s vision is to make sustainable intercity travel mainstream and accessible, especially for routes with heavy passenger traffic such as Delhi–Chandigarh, Delhi–Jaipur, and other popular city pairs.

Partnerships Powering the Transition

A crucial enabler of Zingbus’s electric ambitions is its strategic partnership with Jio-bp, which will provide robust charging infrastructure across key travel corridors. With range anxiety often cited as a challenge in EV adoption, access to fast-charging facilities will ensure smooth operations and reliable service for passengers.

Such partnerships highlight the need for collaboration between mobility operators, energy providers, and government stakeholders to accelerate the adoption of electric buses in India.

A Step Towards Sustainable Mobility

Intercity buses contribute significantly to road transport emissions. By electrifying this segment, Zingbus is not only reducing emissions but also creating a replicable model for other fleet operators across India. The move aligns with India’s national goals of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070 and increasing the adoption of electric vehicles in public transport.

The Plus Electric service also sets a new standard for premium yet eco-friendly travel, appealing to environmentally conscious passengers who don’t want to compromise on comfort or cost.

What Lies Ahead

With the Delhi–Dehradun route as its launchpad, Zingbus is expected to roll out Plus Electric services on multiple intercity routes in the coming years. If successful, this initiative could transform intercity bus travel in India, making electric buses not just an alternative but the preferred choice for millions of commuters.
